Got a new WordPress theme, it’s another girly one. I’m really stuck on that kind of thing lately. Anyway, so on my last post I mentioned I ordered a book called 21-Day Tummy and how I was going to attempt the diet to help my stomach problems and possibly even lose a few pounds. My book finally came in, along with a recipe book for even more things to make once I finish the 21 Days.
I’ve read through most of the book already. I sped read a lot of it because a big chunk of the book talked about things that I already knew. I only knew these things though because I have suffered with my stomach pains for all my live. If you are someone who hasn’t been to a bunch of doctors and haven’t really thought much about why you my be bloated one day and not the other, well this book could be very informative.
They go on to talk about what they call Belly Bullies and Belly Buddies. They list all sorts of foods, here are a few examples of some Belly Bullies.
Bagels, Bread (even whole grain), Crackers, Pasta, White Rice, Corn Oil, Candy, Pizza, Processed Meat, Milk, Sweetners, Many Cheeses, Regular Yogurt, Watermelon, Barley, Wheat, Garlic, Onions, Black Beans, Pistachios, Apples, Cottage Cheese, Cherries, Plums, and Gum
Some of those really surprised me because most of those foods seem like they would be healthy for you. I like fruit so apples and cherries being on the list was a bit of a bummer. Then I’m addicted to Gum but that one doesn’t surprise me because I knew that one could cause gas because you are sucking in air while chewing it.
However, this book does not go on to say you can never eat those type of foods, just that they are going to be taking them out of this 21-Days to get you to feeling better. Then you monitor what you eat and see how you feel that day or longer after eating it. Find out what you can really tolerate and what you can’t because everyone is different.
There was a spice that they mentioned that is good for the tummy that I know that I don’t do well on and that is Cumin. This isn’t deterring me from this because they go on to mention how to substitute for things you know you don’t do well with, that might actually be a food allergy.
Of course, they don’t just tell you a list of Belly Bullies, they tell you a bunch of Belly Buddies, example:
Arugula, Bell Peppers, Cabbage, Green Beens, Potatoes, Bananas, Blueberries, Strawberries, Kiwis, Lemons, Limes, Brown Rice, Oat Bran, Almonds, Peanuts, Pecans, Pumpkin Seeds, Chai Seeds, Salmon, Tuna, Cod, Dark Chcolate, Eggs, Lean Beef, Chicken, Tofu, Coconut Milk, Lactose Milk, Maple Syrup, and Ginger
The book goes like this, they talk to about stomach issues and how they get that way, they tell you the good and the bad. They talk about Digestion and they mention statistics from doctors tests and what not. Some of it is interesting, but like I said, some of it I already knew.
Then it tells you what you are going to have to prepare for the first week of the book. It has a list of foods you are going to need to buy or already have if you are lucky. That was the most daunting thing about this book for me. I have already had to spend over 200 dollars to get items to cook because I’m a new home owner who never really cooked. I didn’t own any spices so it cost me to get a lot of those items. Not only that, but since I was so new to it I had a hard time finding things or understanding what it even was. Thankfully I had a cellphone to look them up if I really had no clue. There were two items already that I just couldn’t find or understand that I’m going to have to try one more time or just deal without them before I start my first week,
If you go to their websites they will give you a few recipes for free to try out that look pretty good – 21-Day Tummy.
That is my first opinion of the book. I haven’t even looked at the recipe book because I don’t dare until I finish the 21-Day stuff, or at least get closer to the end. I don’t want to over whelm myself. I will be sure to let you know my opinions on the foods I have to eat and my progress on weight as well as stomach issues.
Before I leave, a small bit of information about my websites. Since I’m not as active I decided to let two of my domains expire. Aguilarstudios.com and Ulquihime.net. Aguilarstudios.com will expire in march but Ulquihime.net will not be gone until August. If I ever do freelance websites again I will just change Panikku.com into my portfolio. I need to save up my monies and not waste it on domains I don’t really need. If any wants my Ulquihime.net domain just let me know.
