Japan Funbox – Unboxing!

It’s been a while since I have done one of these. It has also been a while since I have done a video. I had fun doing this and I really should continue to do more videos in the near future. So, about a month or so ago I got an email from Japan Funbox. They offered to send me their ‘Mini’ box to do a review on. I was happy to do this since I love to try snack boxes. The box came in on Wednesday of this week and as soon as I got some free time I was ready to record me tasting the yummy treats. I was not disappointed. I’m going to show some pictures of the treats that I got, use the description that had on their little menu card and then add my own opinion to the taste of the treat.

If you are curious to try their subscription box, please be sure to go to Japan FunBox –

Here is the ‘menu’ they give you so you can understand what you are getting. A lot of the treats are in Japanese so this is very helpful. Mine was just the left side for the ‘mini’ box. This also gives you are good idea on what you could have gotten with the Original. πŸ™‚

Pizza potatoWho would think thatΒ  potato chips go well with cheese? Rich cheese on a zig-zag cut potato chip. Only in Japan.Β  (I actually really liked these and I hardly eat potato chips. I had a bad allergy to chips for a while and stopped eating them for years. This was a nice change of pace. I didn’t think it really tasted like pizza, unless you think pizza pretty much taste like cheese. It was still very tasty.)

AlfortBite-size biscuit that is a combination of rich mil chocolate and fragrant while grain biscuits. (This poor treat did not handle the 100+ degree weather in my town, haha. It still tasted yummy, but even melted you can’t go wrong with chocolate. If there is one way to get me to eat chocolate it is to put it on a type of cracker/biscuit.)

Ume-PachiA combination of crackling burst Ume candy and sour Ume taste granules. (If you have ever had the American pop rocks, this is pretty much what that is only with a stranger flavor. If you have ever eating Umiboshi then you can kind of get the idea. Umiboshi are known for being pretty sour. You don’t want to eat it alone, keep it in rice balls! haha This actually did not taste bad and I kind of enjoyed the salty sour taste it had. The popping made me feel like a kid again)

Pretz Tomato tasteA taste of the sweet tomato and green vegetables that are crisp and fragrant. (I loved these! I liked it way more than the Corn flavor ones I got before. I was a little iffy because tomato… while I do not dislike them they are not a favorite. However, this was more like eating a vegetable cracker and had more of a garlic taste to me. Yummy!)

Whistle Candy: Grape FlavorA very popular snack in Japan. This candy is like a whistle, when you put it in your mouth and blow. Make kids happy but parents angry. (This was awesome! It goes to show you can enjoy this kind of thing no matter your age. First of all, Grape was the perfect choice of flavor to put in the box. I love grape. It tasted good and I had lots of fun blowing through it and making it whistle. I kinda want to give this to kids that have parents that annoy me, heh.)

ShuwaboA long, soft-candy with bubbly powder on the inside. The orange and lemon flavor combined mysteriously creates a coke flavor.Β  (This was so good! If you love fizzy and sour stuff with a lot of flavor this is a treat for you. It funny how they say it gives a coke flavor. It really does. It the kind of coke flavor you would get with most Japanese coke or Soda flavored candy. Not really like the American soda pop. Very yummy. I looked forward to finishing this and might even try to figure out how to get more, lol.)

That’s it! That was a lot of fun, if you want to see me try them and make funny faces – check out my youtube video.

  2. They have the best snacks in Japan! I’ve tried the Pretz Tomato taste before and loved it, but everything else you got sounds really good too!

Yeah, those were very tasty! Much better than the corn, though if you love sweet corn you would love the corn one. I’m just not a fan of them for some reason lol.

  3. I’m glad you were able to try some new snacks and it’s better that you liked them!

I’ve never tried snacks from different countries. I’m usually afraid of trying new foods but this makes me curious

Looks like you had a lot of fun with the Whistle Candy. Those Ume-Pachi are also noisy. Eating the Pizza Potato with the Pretz Tomato Taste sounds like a good combination. Wonder if you paired them together on purpose.

LOL omg yes, it was fun. I was enjoying eating those and playing around with them while sitting at the computer. I actually didn’t but it worked out!

Yeah, it was fun. I’m glad I liked these. I have ordered boxes before from other places and had more things I didn’t like but I guess it is always hit and miss because you get something different each month. It’s fun to try all new things though.

Wow, those snacks look amazing. This pizza ones sound great – I’d definitely be getting some of those if I went to Japan! I love trying Japanese sweets when I go to Comic Cons. They always have quite a decent selection, and, best of all, there’s loads of Pokemon branded sweets. So cool!

    Enjoyed the video!

  8. I’m not sure I would care for the potato chip/cheese snack. It sounds a bit… odd haha. I’m glad that it worked for you though! I think the Alforts sound amazing. Then again, anything with chocolate sounds amazing! πŸ˜› It would be so much fun to try all these new snacks, even if all of them weren’t the best.
