Welcome to 2017!

I know a lot of people have been saying how much 2016 has sucked and how 2017 is hope for a better year. Well, I don’t exactly agree with that. First of all, I feel like that happens every year (lol). Good things and bad things are going to happen – no matter what year. It just sort of bothers me with all the people saying how much 2016 sucked when – for me – it was actually a pretty decent year.

Here is why…

One full year of not being put in the hospital! That is correct. I made it to the full year mark of no serious hospitalizations. Wahoo! The last two years before 2016 I was put in the hospital 5 times! That sucked! I’m still paying for those years too – with debt. orz

Also, good news – was negative for RA which I mentioned in my last post. The better news to that is the medication they put me on for my joint pain is still working! Wahoo! It wasn’t a fluke.

I could go on and on about why 2016 wasn’t so bad for me but I’m sure you don’t care, heh. The major one was the avoiding the hospital. lol.

In other news, I started my diet and exercise much sooner than I said I was going to. The guys at work somehow convinced me to join a weight loss challenge with them. I figured, wth, why not? I was pretty sure there was no way I could win because guys lose weight differently than girls. Well, they decided to do it by percentage (which gives me a fair chance) and I’m in the lead! The pot has almost reached 400 dollars and I have two more weeks to lose more!

So far, I have lost over 10 pounds. I went from 166lbs to 149lbs, but my goal is to get under 145, stably. What I mean by that is to make sure it isn’t just water weight. I’m very proud of myself. I have been eating better and going to gym almost every single day. I’m almost back up to 45min on the elliptical. Before, that was just a dream when I was hurting and so out of shape. It was rough too, had to start at 20 minutes and slowly go up after a week as well as trying to up my level on the machine.

So the first week it was just 20 minutes at level 4. Now I’m at 40 minutes at level 7. That is progress for me for sure. XD

I don’t let it get me down if I have to take it down a notch or two on some days. I have to watch myself. I know my body best and I still have nerve and muscle issues.

With all the good though, there was some bad. Such as, the weekend for the New Year I was having some bad flank pain and bladder urgency. I thought for sure this meant I had a kidney infection so I made an appointment at the urgent care just to be sure. Well, they didn’t find much bacteria in my urine test but they did find blood. -_-

What that means is, most likely, I have kidney stones. How on earth that happened is beyond me. The doctor said I might have to go to the E.R. Thankfully that didn’t happen but I get the feeling I have more than one because the pain comes and goes. The worst the pain gets though is not being able to stand up for long. I have heard horror stories about the pain so I’m nervous if one of the stones ends up being bigger than I can pass on my own. Scary!

Still, WTF? How? I’m not super over weight, I drink a TON of water (not even kidding), I don’t drink soda (been doing that for over a year now). The only thing I can think of is it is another symptom of all my problems – or it is from a medication I’m on. I guess I will get to discuss this with my primary doctor on Monday though.

Anyway, work and life is keeping me super busy. I hope everything is going well for you guys. Later!

P.S. I have reading Killing Stalking. 0_0 What a roller coaster ride. Talk about a horrible horror story. I have never read one that gave me this many chills and made me feel like I was preparing a lovely seat in hell for reading it. It’s a huge change from my obsession with Yuri on Ice, which is a pure cinnamon roll. BTW, I do not pair the two dudes in Killing Stalking (Sangwoo and Bum) in fact I ship Sangwoo with prison and Bum with psychiatric help. LOL

P.S.S. OMG! I really want to go to anime fest this year, the creators of Yuri on Ice will be there!!!! WAH!

  1. I definitely agree with you that people say the same thing at the end of every year. I honestly get tired of hearing it after awhile.

I’m so glad that you had a decent 2016! The no trips to the hospital thing is definitely a plus. And I’m glad you’re starting 2017 off strong by losing the weight you have. At that rate, you should have no problem getting down to your goal!

I really should try make more of an effort to diet and exercise but, eh, I just don’t really feel like. It’s not much of an issue right now. Of course I’ll be hating myself later when it does XD

I have yet to read Killing Stalking or watch Yuri on Ice. But I’ll definitely keep those in mind. I’m having fun watching Death Note (almost done!) and Naruto at the moment.

I certainly hope so! The struggle is real after 150, I haven’t been under that in a few years. I would say watch Yuri on Ice and maybe not bother with Killing Stalking unless you have super thick skin. It is a major trigger comic – it’s a Korean Web Comic too. Very dark and truly evil.

  2. That makes sense, actually. I’m glad you didn’t go to the hospital this year, so far! Let’s keep it up. Oh girl, I have medical bills from my car accident still and cannot pay them πŸ™ I know the feeling of debt.

I am glad to hear that your 2016 was pretty good. Not being in hospital for any serious problems is so great. πŸ˜€ Hopefully 2017 will be very similar. You have been doing so well with your health! I hope you win the cash. πŸ˜€

Thank you! I certainly hope I do to. XD

  4. I’m really happy to hear that 2016 was a good year for you. I agree a lot of people were saying it was awful because of key events but I guess there will always be something bad each year. Focusing on the positive is always awesome!

Congrats on getting a ‘headstart’ on your diet/weight loss journey! It’s amazing how much you’ve lost already congrats! I lost around 10kg (I dont know what that is in lbs lol) since I started in August. I’m now addicted to the lifestyle for sure πŸ˜›

Wow that is awesome! I think that is around 22lbs. 0_0 I hope I get addicted. I’m sort of getting addicting to going to the gym. When I was sick and couldn’t go I was getting stir crazy.

I’m so glad 2016 was better than 2015. I remember reading all your hospital posts, so I’m so glad to hear that you haven’t had to go through all that in 2016. Hopefully this year will be even better!

Congrats on losing 10lb! My diet has gone downhill recently, but I’m hoping to get back on track this week.Good luck continuing with your weight loss challenge!

Yuri on Ice is amazing! I wish I lived in the US so I could go to anime fest. I’ll have to look out for events over here!

    Happy New Year!

    • ongaku ongaku

      Thank you! πŸ˜€
Good luck on your diet as well, hope you can get back on that horse and keep it going, haha. I hope I don’t get lazy once my major incentive is over.

  6. Cat Cat

I’m glad to hear that 2016 was a good year for you and that you haven’t had hospitalizations the past year! Nice job on losing 10 pounds so far too! A weight loss challenge sounds like a good motivator, and that’s great that you’ve been going to the gym almost every day. I’m trying to get back into an exercise routine too, as well as making healthier meals. I have extra weight from the holidays that I need to get rid of, haha.

Eep, sorry to hear that you might have kidney stones though πŸ™ I hope they won’t cause you too much pain and will pass soon!

I’m excited about the Yuri on Ice guests at Animefest! I hope I can go this year!

    • ongaku ongaku

Thank you! I feel accomplish cause I’ve never had to lose so much weight in my life.
LOL don’t we all, I think that is why they did this weightloss challenge, it was to try and keep us from over eating on the holidays.
I wanna go so bad but financially it still seems impossible. orz sigh

  7. I know the struggle with medical bills all too well. I hit a pretty bad spot health wise last year as well, but can thankfully say aside from the migraines they’ve been resolved. Living in west TX hasn’t helped with all the weird ass weather lately though. Still, I’m medically in a better spot than last year!

I’m also trying to lose weigh, and so far have managed almost 10 lbs, though I know I still have a lot of bloat and belly fat I want gone. I got really depressed and put on some major stress weight last year, so I’m making sure to make positive life changes and do my best to avoid a repeat. I told myself I am 26 years old, and this is the year to make as many positive changes in my life that I possibly can!

Kidney infections suck…I had my first one a couple of months ago. Found out what I THOUGHT was a simple UTI was actually a kidney infection and e-coli(still have no idea how I got it either)

I hope you don’t mind that I linked you on my blog. I’d like to visit more often and hopefully make a friend =3

    • ongaku ongaku

Well, that is good that you are getting better. Migraines are awful! I have only had them a few times so I feel for people who get them all the time. The weather is pretty bad though, I agree on that.
10lbs is great! Keep going strong! It is hard work for sure. XD
LOL damn those UTI and kidney infections, it is like WTF? Yikes e-coli is bad! I don’t mind at all, I will add you to my links too. Always great to have a new blog friend. XD

  8. Also, super late and weird comment, but I saw on your slider you went to San Angelo CC in October. I assumed you looked a bit familiar to me, and that’s because I saw you there, lol. It’s a small world sometimes! I actually live in SA, have for about 10 years, and even though I am moving out of state in a few weeks I hope they bring it back .I think it would do this craptastic town some good.

    • ongaku ongaku

Wow, it really is a small world. Can’t believe you live in SA too! Yeah, well I did see that they do plan to bring it back. Hopefully they learn and improve each time. πŸ˜€

      • Yeah there are some good parts to it I suppose, and we’re moving all the way to Columbus, OH next month(my husband is from there, but I’ve never been lol)
I was surprised for a first time thing, it wasn’t too bad. My kiddo enjoyed the girls cosplaying as princesses too. I do plan to fly down here to go to it this year since her dad still lives here and it’d be a good thing to take her back to. She wants to dress up as sailor mercury this year bahaha. I’m like omg so much sewing on my part o.O

There are definitely a few things I’ll miss about being here, mostly some of the friends I’ve made since high school, but hey they have fb video chat and crap lol. I WONT miss all the construction on 67 that won’t go away. I live off Bell St over by the base so I have to drive it every day and it’s a headache.

Wow, that is quite a ways away. I hope you enjoy living there. XD
Hahah! I bet she did. Whenever I wear my costume all in pink I get lots of small girls coming up for pictures and hugs. It is so sweet. β™₯
Good luck with the sewing mama! haha I bet you can do it though. I’m still scared of my sewing machine. orz
Ug, yeah I’m so sick of all the construction everywhere! RAWR

          • The construction is killing me. If they’re gonna be fixing crap, fix my damn road! lol

I used to be good at sewing, but that was back in high school. Haven’t done it in forever. I also thought about picking up crocheting so I could actually have winterwear I like(I’ll need it where I’m going >.<)
